Not many little girls or the Paris Hilton’s of today know the true history of the “Sanrio Empire”. You see little girls with hello kitty bags everywhere Sad thing is they don’t even know what they are carrying around. “Sanrio” was not always “Sanrio” and Hello Kitty was NOT “Sanrio’s” first character….King Strawberry was the first character ever produced by Yamanashi Silk Center Co., Ltd. back in 1962 but wasn’t manufactured until 1975 Sadly King Strawberry is very rare and hard to find in the states. You are more likely to find him over sea’s. Honnering the sucsess of this very special character a San Fransisco “Strawberry Shop ” was opened on 1969. This then launched an Japanese magazine “The Strawberry News Magazine” It wasnt untill 1973 that Yamanashi Silk Center Co., Ltd. turned too Sanrio Company Co., Ltd., Hello Kitty was not developed until 1974 12 years after King Strawberry. Also if you look closely at the photos Hello kitty resembles allot like King Strawberry… No?
