Brief history of the BAND-AID® In 1951 the first decorative Band-Aids were introduced to the market. They continue to be a commercial success today with decorative iconic characters such as Hello Kitty, Strawberry Shortcake, Backyardigans, ScoobyDoo, Barbie, Care BearsSpiderman, SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, etc. Band-Aids manufacturing facilities are located in Brazil and China.BAND-AID® brand is an adhesive bandage by Johnson & Johnson is a line of adhesive bandages and related products. The Band-Aid was invented in 1921 by Earle Dickson (a Johnson & Johnson employee) for his wife who frequently cut and burned herself while cooking. By 1924, Johnson & Johnson introduced the first machine made sterilized Band-Aids millions of these Band-Aids were shipped overseas for World War II. Dickson later went on to become Vice President before his retirement in 1957.
